Clay County Court Records Access Laws
Missouri's Sunshine Law gives the public a broad right to open governmental records unless another law closes them. RSMo 610.011 states that open-record exceptions are to be construed strictly. Court files also operate under court rules, redaction rules, and case-specific sealing orders, so public access is not the same as unrestricted access to every document in every case.

Recorder of Deeds records are also separate: marriage licenses, deeds, military discharge records, and recorded instruments use the Recorder counter or iCounty, not the Circuit Clerk.
